But below are some statistics of orphanages in Kazakhstan, the life of the children and the conditions there.   Orphanage Life There are 20-30 girls approximately out of every 100 children in orphanages. In general less girls are abandoned than boys. This creates a problem in that there are many boys that wait for families willing to adopt them. The size of the orphanages varies also. Many orphanages will have anywhere from 50-250 children at a time of different ages. Some of these children are not legally available for adoption in that they have family members that maintain their parental rights. How the children live and are provided for depends on the area and the financial opportunities. Their routine is scheduled like in a school, there are instructors, musical organizers, dancing , different skills clubs, and gym. Kids may be taken out on excursions or movies, but it depends upon the town and financial opportunities. Children go to a secondary regular school in the district that the orphanage is located. The children are permitted to grow up and live at the orphanage until they finish school. The orphanage administration tries to send the boys to military colleges, army, and girls also are provided for. The Administration of the district helps to find a job for them or there are " Houses of Youth" set up by the initiative of the First Lady.  Children can be kept there till they are 22 on condition they study or work but they can't marry. The Director of the orphanage helps to find a job or college for the children, and the Government helps also, but there are lots of problems. Older Children There are many older children living in the orphanages, some have up to 200 kids, 4 years old and up.  Special Needs Children  Special needs like deaf kids or with big problems in hearing are sent to specialized orphanages or boarding schools for deaf or blind or speech defects boarding schools. There are special boarding schools for kids with bad behavior as well, and there are orphanages for the kids who are really sick mentally , who are unable to study. They are under the supervision of Ministry of Social Security . They are not available for adoption at all.  Down Syndrome children are kept in special groups in the regular baby houses or orphanages.  Sometimes additional information can get sent on specific special needs and child rent that are available. Children that are considered special needs are: Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, neurological diseases, crossed eyes, lame, interior organs problems., cleft palate.
