Building Blocks Adoption offers two options to adopt domestically here in the USA. Our newborn adoption program and adoption of children through the state foster care system. Our agency does not limit its search for matching of children or birth parent outreach to the State of Ohio. Our agency seeks matches and networks with adoption professionals nationwide so you do not have to.

Newborn Adoption Program
Fees:
$6,500 not including birth mother living expenses, legal, counseling and medical

Parent Eligibility:

•No age limit
•Must be 18 years of age and older
•No prohibitive criminal record
•Good health
•Singles
•Married Couples (No length of marriage requirements)
•Must meet state minimum financial requirements

Children Available: 

•Newborns
•Babies are African American, Asian, Hispanic, Caucasian, or Bi-racial/Multi-racial 

**Time frame:
Families have completed adoptions in as little as 1 month from home study approval to several months. Much depends on your flexibility with the needs of the birth parent, characteristics of the child and the financial ability to react to each situation presented.

Travel:
Travel is determined by location of the birth mother. Adoptive parents are required to travel to the state in which the birth mother resides to pick up their baby. Parents stay in state until approved by ICPC (Interstate Compact for Placement of Children) which grants approval for the baby to cross state lines. Your stay in the birth mother’s state typically is not more than 1-2 weeks. If the birth mother resides in your home state you will only need to travel to the county in which the child is born for placement.

Building Blocks Adoption is licensed by the State of Ohio to perform adoption services including newborn domestic adoption. Building Blocks Adoption will be your advocate and assist you will the facilitation of adopting your baby. Building Blocks Adoption provides the following services for its newborn adoption program.

•Extensive outreach to other agencies, law firms, facilitators, counselors, hospitals, clinics, social workers and physicians who are aware of birth mothers seeking to make an adoption plan 

•Presentation of your profile to birth parents directly or through outreach (We do all the networking for you! You are not committed to one agency)

•Posting your profile on our website 

•Assist with creating your parent profile 

•Assist with creating your “Dear Birth Parent” Letter 

•Explanation of the adoption process 

•Explanation of your legal rights in regards to the adoption process 

•Assist with assessing the risks involved with each adoption 

•Referral to experienced adoption attorneys to assist with your private adoption 

•Providing or locating birth parent counseling 

•Educate adoptive families in regards to the adoption process 

•Advocate for adoptive families during the adoption process 

•Provide required social services such as homestudy, prefinalization, interstate compact
 
•Provide subsidy and tax credit information 

•Provide grant and loan resources to assist with the financing of an adoption 

Most importantly: “Being there” during and after your adoption process. We are here for you every step of the way!

 

State Waiting Adoption Program 
Fees:
$4,500 not including finalization fees or multiple placements

Building Blocks Adoption is licensed by the State of Ohio to perform adoption services including assisting with the match of a child in state foster care systems with adoptive families. Building Blocks Adoption will be your advocate when seeking a placement of a child from state foster care systems. 

Parent Eligibility:
• Single women, single men, married couples
• Good health
• No prohibitive criminal record *(additional details below)
• Meets state financial requirements
• No age restrictions
• One parent is a United States citizen

Children Available:
• Typically children are ages 5 and older are waiting
• Sibling groups of 2 or more. Ages of siblings groups can be broad infant-teen
• Special Needs Children
• Children are African American, Asian, Hispanic, Caucasian, or Bi-racial/Multi-racial
• Children are often victims of abuse or neglect 

**Timeframe:
Families have completed adoptions within 6 months of homestudy approval to several months. Much depends on the family’s flexibility with characteristics of the child and the state/county response to your inquiries.

Travel
Parents are required to travel and visit the child according to the child’s needs. If the child resides outside the State of Ohio you will be required to travel out of state several times for visitation and bonding. Factors for visits are determined by the entity holding custody and will be dependent on the ages of child(ren), location and their situation.


Building Blocks Adoption will assist adoptive families seeking to adopt a state waiting child by:
 

•Providing social services such as the homestudy assessment, prefinalizations, match meetings and court appearances as required 

•Educate adoptive families on the needs of state waiting children 

•Assist adoptive parents with locating a child from the state foster care system both in the State of Ohio and Nationwide

•Mail, fax or email your profile to county agencies with adoption programs here in the State of Ohio or Nationwide and advocate for a referral of a child that meets your criteria 

•Provide links to photo listings of state waiting children

•View photo listings, flyer's and mailings from county and state agencies and present waiting children with appropriate criteria to adoptive families

•Send your homestudy to state and county agencies 

•Provide subsidy and tax credit information 

•Guide families through the matching process 

•Assist in the meeting the child

•Assistance with interstate compact documentation (ICPC) for children residing outside the State of Ohio 

•Prefinalization and finalization services

•Most importantly: “Being there” during and after your adoption placement!

*Adoptive applicants who have been convicted of felony child abuse or neglect; spousal abuse; a crime against children (including child pornography); or a crime involving violence, including rape, sexual assault, or homicide but not including other types of physical assault or battery or the applicant has been convicted of a felony for physical assault, battery, excessive alcohol related offense or drug-related offense within the past 5 years may not adopt. If you have questions about any type of criminal record, contact our office for a list of disqualifying offenses.
