International Adoption in Kazakhstan Requirements: 

• At least one parent must be a US citizen.
• Single Women age 25 and over can adopt from Kazakhstan
• No more then two divorces per applicant
• Only one child can be adopted at a time from Kazakhstan, unless they are biological siblings
• Applicants cannot be older then 50 yrs of age upon completion of the adoption process
• Both parents must travel to Kazakhstan complete the adoption process
• A completed adoption home study must be completed by a licensed  adoptionsocial worker and licensed  adoption agency. Prospective adoptive parents must agree to obtain the required post adoption reports at their cost after the adoption is finalized.

Children Available for International Adoption in Kazakhstan:

There are many children of all ages available for adoption. Children available for adoption can be a minimum of 8 months of age and up to 14 yrs old. Most children are Asian or Caucasian in this former Soviet country. Boys and girls can be referred. After a child has been selected, the adoption is usually completed within 9-12 months.  An infant adoption in Kazakhstan is considered to be child of about 8 months old, this is the youngest child available for international adoption in Kazakhstan. One trip- Approximately 4-5 weeks in country OR
Two trips- First trip is about 2 1/2 weeks (this includes the court time and the mandatory 2 week bonding period with the child) Second trip takes about one week. One or both parents can travel. This trip occurs about 30 days after the court hearing date. Parents can choose to hire an escort(this is on a case by case basis) to bring their child home on the second trip, therefore only making one trip.
