Russia Orphanage Life

To get a good understanding of orphanage life in Russia, it is recommended to read The Marvelous Journey Home by John Simmons - it is a fabulous book, written as a novel but based on a true story, of the adoption of biological sisters from Vladivostok Russia. Families will get an idea of the children's lives from this book. (Recommend it to all families, its very touching.) Below is some additional information for families:

Russian Orphanage

Older Children

Older children in Russia is referring to children ages 7 and older. There are many older children waiting for forever families in the Russian Federation. Families seeking older children for placement will find there are many children that may meet their criteria.  Typically at age 13+ these children can be left on their own to conquer the world themselves.  Families interested in older child placement should be prepared for many attachment and bonding issues.

Russia Special Needs Children
In some regions, the representative will provide information on a special needs child that is available for adoption as a courtesy only to families seriously seeking the placement of a special needs child. This can include some minor medical information on the child, and some family history if available.  But this is no guarantee. Families seeking special needs placement will receive more information once they meet with the orphanage director in the child's orphanage.
